About TestConnect

TestConnect is a free app and marketplace for building compliance testing in the UK: air tightness, sound insulation and ventilation commissioning. It's a resource to make testing easier, not a scheme.

Housebuilders, SAP assessors and site teams need tests done at the right point in the build. Testers need full, sensible days without long empty drives between jobs. TestConnect matches the two. Testers are offered work that fits the route they're already driving. Sites confirm they're ready before anyone sets off. Every result, including every failure, is kept in one honest record.

Why we built TestConnect

We built TestConnect for self-employed testers and small testing firms, the kind with one to ten testers. On their own, each can only cover so much. Together, they can offer housebuilders and assessors one place to book a reliable local tester, wherever the site is.

We could have bought vans and employed testers. We chose instead to build the tools for people who already run their own testing businesses, and to connect them. A community of local independents: people who put their name to their work and care whether a home is actually built well. The kind of tester who will walk the plot with the site manager, show where the leaks are, explain what needs fixing and come back quickly for the retest. The help is in finding and explaining; the result stays honest and independent.

Local testing also means less driving. A tester who is already nearby spends less of the day behind the wheel, so they can price fairly and still make it pay, and every mile not driven is a little less carbon.

We aim to break even, not to make a profit. Together we can make a difference.

What we're aiming for

  • Fewer wasted visits. Readiness checks and route fit mean fewer trips to plots that aren't ready, and fewer empty miles. We measure the travel saved with a published method.
  • Homes built tight, not tested tight. Nothing in TestConnect rewards a pass, and every result is kept. Read about trust and feedback.
  • Free tools for the whole site team. Developers, assessors and site managers pay nothing, always. Testers can use the Free plan for one tester with no card, or Pro at £5 a month per tester, and every new tester business gets Pro free for 60 days to get a feel for it. Running TestConnect isn't free, so that covers servers, secure storage for photos and certificates, and support. We aim to cover our costs, not to make a profit: see pricing.

Who runs it

TestConnect is built and operated by Wilgenry Software Ltd, a UK software company.

Each organisation's information is kept separate inside the database itself, not just hidden in the app. Wilgenry staff cannot see organisations' customers, prices, private jobs or messages. Platform support staff can see an organisation's data only when that organisation allows it, for a limited time and a stated reason. Every access is recorded in a tamper-evident audit log.

What we don't do

  • We're not a scheme. We don't audit, certify or police testers, and we don't ask for ID or documents to sign up.
  • We don't take a commission on jobs or payments, and we don't sell anyone's data.
  • We don't rank or promote testers by pass rate. A tester's job is to measure honestly.
  • We don't lodge certificates with testing schemes. Testers lodge with their scheme as they do now, then upload the certificate and lodgement reference.
  • We don't add card surcharges for customers.
