Three steps, and you're up and running
-
Sign up in a few minutes
Request an invite and we'll email you a code. Then it's your name, email, business name, base postcode and the tests you do. That's all. No card, no ID and no documents to upload.
-
Add your jobs, or pick some up
Put in your own jobs and clients. They stay private to you. If you'd like more work, look at the marketplace and take only what fits your route.
-
Test, record, get it signed off
Record results and photos on site, even offline. Lodge with your scheme as you do now, then add the certificate so the client can see it.
A network of local independent testers
On your own, you can only cover so much. Together, local independents can give housebuilders and assessors what they need: one place to book a reliable local tester, wherever the site is. You stay independent; you just aren't on your own.
Your business stays yours
Your name, your prices, your clients. Private jobs stay private. We're not a scheme and not your employer.
Work you couldn't cover alone
Housebuilders and assessors with sites across a region can book through one place, and the jobs near you come to you.
Local is competitive
Work that fits your route means less time and fuel between jobs, so you can price fairly and still make it pay.
Built for 1 to 10 testers
Free for one tester, then £5 a month per tester. No commission, and office staff are free.
Busy that day? Pass a job to another local tester
Pass a job to another local tester — they attend as your business. You agree the fee between you, your client keeps dealing with you, and the other tester invoices you. Testers choose whether others can find them for this kind of work.
What independents bring is care: walking the plot with the site team, showing where the leaks are, explaining what to fix and coming back quickly. The result itself stays honest and independent. Together we can make a difference.
Extra jobs that fit the day you've already got
When an assessor or developer posts a test near you, TestConnect works out where it would fit in your day and tells you what it adds: "+12 min from your route", "On your route home", "2 jobs at the same development". Jobs go first to testers already passing, so a job on your route reaches you before it's offered more widely. You decide. Nothing happens if you say no.
- Before you accept: the fee, test type, town and postcode district, date window and the extra driving
- After you accept: the full address, site contact, access notes and drawings
- Your private jobs are used to work out the fit, but never shown to anyone
- Ordered by route fit. Never by pass rate, and nobody pays to be listed first
Some posters ask for prices instead of setting a fee. You send one sealed quote that other testers never see, and you can change or withdraw it until they decide.
Made for the van, the plot and no signal
Big buttons for the steps of a visit, and a record that holds up later.
- Readiness: the site confirms the plot is ready the day before, so you don't drive to one that isn't
- "On my way", if you choose: the site gets your ETA while you travel, and sharing stops when you arrive
- Fails recorded honestly: the measured value, defects and photos, and the retest booked in one tap
- Office help: leave site with data to process and your office can enter it for you, with both names on the record
A resource for testers, not another thing to answer to

Feedback on your service, not your results
A failed test never means a bad review. Feedback covers turning up when agreed, communication, professionalism and report quality. It stays hidden until both sides have submitted, you can reply to any comment, and you rate sites too, including whether the plot was ready as promised.
How feedback worksYour data is yours
Your private jobs and clients are invisible to everyone else, including assessors. Our support staff can only look if you give permission, for a limited time, and every look is logged. Download all of it whenever you like.
Your data questionsWhat testers ask us first
There are more answers on the questions from testers page, or email support@testconnect.co.uk.
Who is TestConnect for?
Self-employed air tightness, sound and ventilation testers and small testing firms, typically with one to ten testers, though any testing business can use it. You keep your own business, prices and clients; we take no commission, and we're not a scheme or an employer. Together, local independents give housebuilders and assessors one place to book a reliable local tester, so you can win work that would be hard to cover on your own.
How do I join?
TestConnect is invite-only while we grow the network of local independents. Request an invite and we'll email you a code.
Is it really free?
Yes. The Free plan costs nothing, has no time limit and needs no card. It covers one tester: marketplace work with route fit, results, photos and certificates, up to 15 of your own jobs a month, and as many office and finance users as you like.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every new tester business gets Pro free for 60 days, for the whole team, to get a feel for it. No card needed.
What's the catch?
There isn't one hiding in the small print. If you want more than the Free plan gives you, Pro is £5 a month per tester. We don't take a commission on your work, and we don't sell your data.
Why do you charge at all?
Running TestConnect isn't free: servers, secure storage for years of your photos and certificates, and support all cost money. We charge £5 a month per tester to cover those costs, not to make a profit.
Is TestConnect a scheme? Do I still lodge with my scheme?
No, we're not a scheme. We don't audit, certify or police anyone, and we don't lodge for you. You lodge with your scheme exactly as you do now, then upload the certificate and lodgement reference against the plot so the assessor or developer can see it.
Do I have to upload my documents, insurance or ID?
No. To sign up we ask for your name, email, business name, base postcode and which tests you do. No ID and no documents. If a marketplace job needs a scheme, such as an air test, you add your scheme membership number because the certificate and lodgement need it, and posters see it marked as self-declared. Calibration dates are optional and only there to remind you. Insurance details are optional too.
Who sees my prices, clients and private jobs?
Only people in your own organisation. Your private jobs, clients and prices are invisible to everyone else, including assessors, other testers and us. Route fit uses your private jobs to work out the extra driving, but never shows them. Our support staff can only look if you give permission, for a limited time, and every look is logged.
Can a failed test get me a bad review?
No. Feedback is about your service: turning up when agreed, communication, professionalism and report quality. It's never about the result. The forms don't ask how the test went, and comments about a fail are removed if reported. You can reply to any comment, and you rate sites too.
Can I pass a job to another tester?
Yes, if you're busy or can't make it. From a job you've accepted, find another local tester who has chosen to be listed for this kind of work, offer it to one or several (the first to accept takes it) and agree the fee between you. They attend as your business unless you choose otherwise, and your client still sees you: you stay responsible, invoice your client as usual, and the other tester invoices you. They never see your client's price. You can take the job back before they set off. No commission and no extra seat. To be found for this work yourself, switch on "Other testers can find me for subcontract work" in Tester profile → Subcontract work; it's off until you do.
Do I have to take marketplace jobs?
No. It's there if you want it, and you can use TestConnect just for your own work. Nothing happens if you ignore or turn down a job.
Does it work offline on site?
Yes. Jobs you've opened are saved on your phone, so you can see the details and enter results, photos and notes with no signal. They upload when you're back in signal, and you can see what's still waiting.
