Code of conduct
Version 2026-10-03
1. Who this applies to
This code applies to everyone who uses TestConnect, which is operated by Wilgenry Software Ltd [company number, registered office]: testers and testing companies, assessors, developers, site managers, office staff and anyone else with an account or a site link. It forms part of our terms of use. When we change it, we'll ask you to accept the new version.
TestConnect is not a testing or competent person scheme, and this code doesn't replace your scheme's rules. We don't audit or police anyone's work. These are simply the ground rules that keep TestConnect fair and pleasant for everyone who uses it.
2. Testers
- Record results honestly. Don't temporarily seal a home to get it through a test, tamper with a test or equipment, or record or lodge a result you know is untrue. Record fails as fails.
- Turn up, or give notice. If you can't make an appointment, tell the job owner and the site as early as you can.
- Keep your profile true: if you add a scheme membership number or other details, keep them accurate. Only accept work you're qualified, insured and calibrated for.
- Follow site rules, including safety rules and PPE, and leave the plot as you found it.
- Be respectful to site teams, homeowners, colleagues and other testers.
3. Job posters and site teams
- Describe jobs accurately, including access, plot details and anything hazardous.
- Be honest about readiness. Only confirm a plot is ready if it is. If you're not sure, say so.
- Provide safe access to the plot and the information a tester needs to work safely.
- Pay for completed work on the terms agreed for the job.
- Be respectful to testers and their staff.
4. Everyone
- No abuse, threats, harassment or discrimination, in messages, feedback or on site.
- No fake feedback, and no offering or accepting rewards for feedback. See the feedback policy.
- Don't share other people's private information, or use information you see on TestConnect for anything other than the job.
- Don't try to get around TestConnect's privacy or security controls.
5. If something goes wrong
We deal with problems in proportion, and we always start by talking to you. The usual stages are:
- Note: an informal word about what went wrong.
- Warning: a formal warning, recorded on your account.
- Suspension: a pause on new work. Existing jobs can be finished or reassigned.
- Removal from TestConnect.
We may suspend an account straight away, while we look into it, only for reasons of safety or integrity:
- evidence that results have been falsified;
- a scheme membership that isn't valid being used on a job;
- threats or abuse.
Low ratings alone never lead to a suspension or removal. A sustained pattern, such as "would book again" below 60% over 10 or more jobs, or repeated no-shows, leads to a review with the person concerned. We tell you why, you can respond, and you get the chance to improve.
6. Appeals
You can appeal any decision within 14 days by emailing support@testconnect.co.uk. A different member of staff from the one who made the decision will review it. Every step is recorded in our audit log, and you can see the record of decisions about you.
7. Reporting a concern
If you think someone has broken this code, report it in the app or email support@testconnect.co.uk. If someone is in danger, contact the emergency services first. Concerns about a test result or certificate can also be raised with the tester's scheme or the building control body.
